Last Week in Pictures 1/22 - 1/28

We didn't have anything too unusual going on last week. I just got some pics of everyday life. :)

Self portrait, in the car.
Josh cut his hair really short...
Honestly, I forgot to take a picture on this day - oops! I decided to substitute a picture of the mice I had to make for the boys after they had seen Abby's. So cute!
Abby "performing" with other 1st graders at the PTO meeting. She gets so shy.
Jacob chasing me with snowballs.
My attempt at braiding Abby's hair.
Owen making a mess. I have a picture of each one of my kids making a mess at this age. The other kids got into the cupboards and pulled out boxes and cans. But you know Owen, he does everything his own way. ;)

Weight Loss Update - Aaaack!

So I weighed this morning and I am up another 1/2 lb! Geez - what is going on here? I am still nursing Owen, so that should be helping me out. While I am not really exercising, I am active and the kids and housework keep me moving. Very frustrating...

So this week I am pulling out the "big guns". I am removing...wait for it, wait for it...SWEETS from my diet. My definition of sweets: cake, pie, ice cream, ccokies, candy, etc. So no more twinkies and milk or those yummy Lofthouse cookies with ice cream. :( Looks like my after dinner snack will have to be an apple.

Wish me luck - so far my elimination diet is not working as well as I would have thought. Well, so far it isn't working at all really. I am going to keep working at it and hopefully my body will change it's mind soon.

Last Week in Pictures - Catchin' Up

Finally! Last week in pictures...

Abby's mouse is finished. It is hot pink wool and slightly felted. She loves it. I had no idea how cool this would make me seem to my children.

Abby selling GS cookies with her BFF. She had so much fun!

Abby at her Girl Scout meeting. I was so relieved to turn in our cookie orders... until I remembered I would soon be collecting money and delivering all those cookies...

My broken laptop.

Jacob is in a full-blown "pajama phase". He changes pajamas several times (5+) throughout the day and does not limit himself to his own pajamas - he also wears Owen's, even if they are too small. :)

We had another pretty snow...

Josh took this one for me and I loved it because of Owen's pretty blue eyes. He had just eaten ravioli FYI.

Weight Loss Baby Steps Update

So... my computer has been down so I couldn't update my weight loss progress on Monday. I have resorted to breaking out the desktop while the laptop is being repaired.

Last week I eliminated soda (and Red Bull) from my diet. The result... I gained 2 lbs!!! What the heck?!?!? I think it is probably a water retention thing. I ate some pretty salt foods leading up to my "weigh-in". Anyways, I am bravely continuing on and this week I have eliminated all candy from my diet. I know what you are thinking - what are you, 6 years old? I LOVE candy and basically I am working on breaking my addiction to sugar. So far, so good. We will see what the scale says on Monday...

Baby Steps and Weight Loss

I took a big step and stepped on the scale this morning. It's a big deal because I haven't stepped on a scale since my 6 week post-partum (after-baby for the uninitiated) doctor's appointment and even then I didn't look at the numbers.

After the baby was born, I just didn't really care about weight. I don't like fixating on weight while nursing, because I have a slight paranoia about weight loss interfering with my milk supply. I know, I know - can you say big, fat excuse? As Owen nears a year, I feel like it is time to start thinking about my body again and getting back into shape.

This time around I have a game plan of gradual healthy changes that hopefully become habits. For instance, my modest goal for this week is to ditch sugary soft drinks and drink lots of water.

I think I am going to set today as my starting point and Mondays as my update day. I am not ready to let everyone know what my scale said this morning, but I will get there! It looked something like this... 1##.5 lbs. It is my secret for now - hehehe! ;)

A Week in Pictures - Week 2

There has not been a lot going on around here lately and my pictures are proof. Our "huge" snowstorm only gave us a couple of inches of snow, but it was enough to trap us in the house this week.

This week Josh and I took a huge step and evicted Owen. We moved him out of our room and into the kids' room. It is working out beautifully with the exception of naps. At least now we have a little bit of space to ourselves!

We had to run to Wal-Mart the night before the snowstorm. It was insane (think Black Friday shopping). I couldn't get a good pic of the insanity but I did get a pic of us getting pizza for dinner afterward. :) Please note the crack in my windshield and if you see husband - tell him I deserve a new piece of glass for the Subie.

I think I bundled Owen up well for playing in the snow - he looks pretty comfortable...

The kids and I love to walk down to the creek and play "guess the animal tracks" in the snow. These are either crane or turkey - my vote is turkey.

My attempt to get started on a pair of booties for Owen. The result was a tangled mess. I am obviously doing something wrong - I just have to figure out what that is.

Knitting attempt #2 - complete a mouse project I started who knows when. All I had left to do was stitch it up and stuff it. I was off to a good start until Josh hid my book so that I would spend time with him instead!

Josh went in to work late today so I got to make him (and the kids) breakfast. Josh's plate is over-easy eggs, white toast and sausage. YUM!

Abby keeps asking me why I have so many pictures of Owen. ;)

Snow Days - Pics and Videos

Monday was the best because we had Josh at home, too. :)

(The kids were throwing snowballs at Owen - he LOVED it!)

Our creek - so pretty...

A Week in Pictures

So... I have been working on "1/365 challenge". That is 1 picture every day for 365 days. So far the hardest part has been picking one picture to represent each day. I think I am off to a great start. Some days we did things out of the ordinary and then other days I took snapshots of my everyday life. I want to remember it all! Here is what I have this week to share:

Josh and I went to bed at 11:15 on New Year's Eve. I broke out the sparkling grape juice in the morning for the kids to try. They thought it was gross, but did like the fancy glasses. Josh informed me that I was dork for buying the sparkling grape juice in the first place.

Abby, in her red glasses, at the Customs House. She was checking out the model trains.

We went to Jumpzone in Clarksville with Laurie - fun, fun, fun! It was the girls' last day before back to school.

Owen is finally bouncing in this thing!

In the school parking lot - all the kids have their first day back to school after the break .

The view from my kitchen sink. Toys in the yard. Old funky hummingbird feeder. On the sill - a broken turtle salt shaker. I love turtles and my kids love to break stuff. Also on the window sill - a hot wheels car and a Strawberry Shortcake hat. Both had been dipped in yogurt for some reason and I had washed them.

Our bed... in the living room. Owen is currently winning the "battle of the bedroom". We share a room and he won't sleep in his crib when Josh and I are in there. Of course we are working on a solution, but for now Josh and I are enjoying watching the big television before bed.
